Daniela Czeska Lakosilova

In 2007, at the age of 12, Daniela was hit with the news that she had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.). Daniela fought cancer, yet unfortunately relapsed in 2012, when she was 16. As a Halo Camper, Daniela attended the 2008 camp in Green Bay, as well as the 2010 Florida Reunion Camp. She is still battling to beat this disease on a daily basis. Despite her relapse, she remains in high spirits and has an even greater heart for giving.

This past month, Daniela graduated from Ridgewood High School and turned 18. With kindness in her heart, and a deep understanding of pediatric cancer patients, Daniela opted to not receive presents for her birthday this year. It was of far greater important to be able to have her friends and family give her toys that she could donate to children at the hospital with cancer.

Daniela plans to attend a community college, and eventually study in Europe. Art and photography have played a great role in Daniela’s healing process. She intends on becoming an Art Therapist, as that greatly helped her through her treatments.

“Halo of Hope helped me take my mind off of things that were going on in my treatment. It helped me enjoy life a little more and make new friends that went through similar things.” -Daniela
